Are you using 100 year old or 20+ year old dial-tone technology ?

Analog Lines are 100+ Year Old Technology!

Analog Telephone Lines, also called Plain old telephone service (POTS) is voice-grade telephone service employing analog signal transmission over copper loops. POTS was the standard service offering from telephone companies from 1876 until 1988

POTS remains the basic form of residential and small business service connection to the telephone network in many parts of the world. The term reflects the technology that has been available since the introduction of the public telephone system in the late 19th century, in a form mostly unchanged despite the introduction of Touch-Tone dialing, electronic telephone exchanges and fiber-optic communication into the public switched telephone network (PSTN).

PRI’s are 20+ Year Old Technology!

The Primary Rate Interface (PRI) was first defined in 1988 and is still popular today with traditional service providers. PRI used to be the standard for providing telecommunication services to offices. It is based on the T-carrier (T1) line in the US.

Current Technology!

Session Initiation Protocol (SIP) trunking has been commercially available since the early 2000’s. SIP trunking is a Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP) standard by which Cloud service providers deliver telephone services and unified communications to customers equipped with SIP capable telephone systems. (IP-PBX)

The architecture of SIP trunking provides a partitioning of the Unified Communications network into two different domains of expertise:

Private Domain: a VoIP solution created on the customer’s network.

Public Domain: a VoIP access solution to the Public Switched Telephone Network (PSTN) in the Cloud

The interconnection between the two domains must occur through a SIP trunk.

What is SIP Trunking ?

With most phone companies (LEC’s & CLECs), customers typically pay on a per-line basis for physical phone lines that originate in their central office. These phone lines are costly. Customers invest a lot when they initially deploy them, and it’s very expensive to add more as they grow.

With SIP Trunking, phone calls are routed through the Internet. And this makes all the difference.

With SIP Trunking customers can:

  • Consolidate voice and data traffic
  • No longer need to pay for expensive phone lines from the phone company
  • Cut costs up to 50 percent
  • No loss in capacity to make and receive calls
  • No loss in the quality of calls
  • Improve the reliability of the system by mitigating threat of local outages

Most newer phone systems are compatible with SIP Trunking with no extra equipment.

Older phone systems may require a device called a VoIP Gateway to translate analog or digital calls into VoIP calls.

In all cases, SIP Trunking brings new life to an existing phone system or provides the savings catalyst to purchase a new phone system, while cutting operational costs and preserving capital.

Best of all, with SIP Trunking, customers can say goodbye to the old fashioned phone company forever.

Happy Thanksgiving

Thanksgiving is a particularly American holiday. The word evokes images of football, family reunions, roasted turkey with stuffing, pumpkin pie and, of course, the Pilgrims and Wampanoag, the acknowledged founders of the feast.

In most American households, the Thanksgiving celebration centers on cooking and sharing a bountiful meal with family and friends.

In 1621, the Plymouth colonists and Wampanoag Indians shared an autumn harvest feast that is acknowledged today as “one of the first” Thanksgiving celebrations in the colonies.

Thanksgiving’s Ancient Origins:

Although the American concept of Thanksgiving developed in the colonies of New England, its roots can be traced back to the other side of the Atlantic. Both the Separatists who came over on the Mayflower and the Puritans who arrived soon after brought with them a tradition of providential holidays, days of feasting and celebration to show thankfulness in times of plenty.

As an annual celebration of the harvest and its bounty, moreover, Thanksgiving falls under a category of festivals that spans cultures, continents and millennia.

In ancient times, the Egyptians, Greeks and Romans feasted and paid tribute to their gods after the fall harvest.

Thanksgiving also bears a resemblance to the ancient Jewish harvest festival of Sukkot.

Finally, historians have noted that Native Americans had a rich tradition of commemorating the fall harvest with feasting and merrymaking long before Europeans set foot on their shores.

No matter what you think of Thanksgiving, we hope you have a Great day!

Hosted (Cloud) PBX have a “HIGHER” Total Cost Ownership (TCO) than Premise Based systems

The Myth is that Hosted/Cloud PBX is more expensive upfront than a Premise-Based Telephone System.  That would true if a customer was forced to pay for their telephone system upfront.  The fact is that most manufacturers offer leasing and/or financing at zero or close to zero lending cost, allowing customers a way to spread out the upfront costs.

Even when you add the monthly leasing and/or financing costs to the monthly carrier costs, a Premise Based telephone system is less expensive than a Hosted/Cloud PBX.  Then, after the telephone system is paid for and the monthly costs go down even more, the monthly savings go up.

The Total Cost of Ownership (TCO) for a Premise-Based telephone system will ALWAYS be less than that of a Hosted/Cloud PBX.

At some point, you “own” the Premise-Based telephone system.

You never “own” the Hosted/Cloud PBX, you RENT it!

Both options offer you self-administration.

Both options support remote workers.

Both options support mobility solutions. (extension to cellular)

Don’t be fooled by marketing hype, Hosted/Cloud PBX is all about monthly payments that NEVER end.

Why You Should ALWAYS Choose an On-Site Telephone System

On-Site Telephone Systems make sense!

On-Site Telephone Systems have much “LOWER” Monthly Costs than Hosted PBX!

On-Site Telephone Systems work well if employees are physically located in the same office, or if any/ all workers are “Virtual”.

Hosted PBX up-front costs are lower, because you’re “RENTING” the Telephone System as long as you use it.

Hosted PBX Monthly Costs are much “HIGHER”, because you’re “RENTING” the Telephone System as long as you use it.

The “Total Cost of Ownership” (TCO) on a Hosted PBX is much “HIGHER” than an On-Site Telephone System.

The “Return on Investment” (ROI) for an On-Site Telephone System is based on the Monthly Savings provided by the much “LOWER” Monthly Costs of an On-Site Telephone System versus a Hosted PBX with much “HIGHER” Monthly Costs.

Hosted PBX service is great for the company selling it and receiving the monthly residual revenue/commissions on the service, because it NEVER ends!
